Job Role: AC Technician

An AC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of air conditioning systems. This role ensures that HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems function properly, providing optimal comfort and air quality in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.

Responsibilities:

• Installation: Install, set up, and configure air conditioning systems, including split, central, and window units, based on system specifications and client requirements.

• Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on AC systems, including cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting coils, and ensuring optimal performance.

• Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with AC systems, such as cooling inefficiency, electrical faults, refrigerant leaks, and clogged ducts. Perform necessary repairs or replacements.

• System Testing: Test and inspect installed or repaired AC systems to ensure that they are functioning correctly and efficiently, using diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Refrigerant Management: Handle refrigerant according to environmental regulations, ensuring proper levels and performing necessary recharges. Repair or replace refrigerant lines when needed.

• Customer Service: Provide clear communication to customers regarding the status of their AC systems, advise on energy-saving practices, and explain the necessary repairs or upgrades.

• Ductwork and Insulation: Inspect and maintain ductwork, ensuring proper airflow and the prevention of air leaks. Install or repair insulation and duct components as needed.

• Compliance: Ensure all work complies with local, national, and industry-specific safety standards and building codes, including refrigerant handling and disposal regulations.

• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including system diagnostics, repairs, maintenance schedules, and part replacements.

• Emergency Service: Respond to emergency service calls, troubleshooting and repairing AC systems that have failed or are not functioning correctly.

• Upgrade and Replacement: Advise clients on system upgrades or replacements, including recommending more energy-efficient models and solutions to improve system performance.

Requirements:

• Experience: Proven experience as an AC Technician or in a similar HVAC-related role (typically 2–5 years).

• Knowledge: Strong knowledge of air conditioning systems, refrigeration, electrical systems, and HVAC principles.

• Technical Skills: Skilled in using diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, pressure gauges) and hand tools for installation, repair, and maintenance.

• Refrigerant Handling: Understanding of refrigerant types and their handling, including certifications for refrigerant management (e.g., EPA Section 608).

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in tight spaces, and perform manual tasks in varying environmental conditions.

• Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to quickly diagnose and resolve issues with AC systems.

• Customer Service: Excellent communication and customer service skills to explain technical issues clearly to clients and provide them with appropriate solutions.

• Certifications: Vocational training or certification in HVAC or refrigeration systems is preferred.

• Licensing: A valid HVAC certification or local licensing (if required by local regulations) may be necessary.

• Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license (if traveling between job sites is required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications: Certification in air conditioning and refrigeration (e.g., NATE Certification).

• Advanced Knowledge: Experience working with advanced cooling systems, such as central air systems, heat pumps, or commercial AC units.

• Energy Efficiency: Knowledge of energy-efficient AC systems, eco-friendly refrigerants, and green building standards.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Residential homes, commercial buildings, industrial sites, and construction projects.

• Hours: Full-time; may include evening, weekend, or on-call work, especially for emergency repairs or system failures.

• Environment: Work can be performed in a variety of settings, including hot, cold, or confined spaces. Technicians may be required to work at heights or in tight spaces, such as attics or crawlspaces.

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Transportation: Provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.

• Medical facilities: Provided as per company policy.

• Air passage: One-way free ticket after completing the contract.

• Probation period: 3 months (as per KSA law).

• Other conditions: All other terms as per KSA government law.
