Job Role: Cisco Unified Communications Engineer

A Cisco Unified Communications Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting Cisco UC solutions—including voice, video, messaging, and conferencing systems—ensuring seamless communication across an organization.

Responsibilities:

• Design, deploy, and support Cisco UC solutions (CUCM, Unity Connection, IM & Presence, Jabber, Webex, etc.).

• Configure and manage VoIP networks and telephony systems.

• Integrate UC systems with other IT and network infrastructures.

• Perform troubleshooting and resolve issues related to voice quality, call routing, and connectivity.

• Maintain and update system software, firmware, and security patches.

• Monitor system performance and usage metrics.

• Collaborate with network, security, and IT teams to ensure smooth operation of communication platforms.

• Provide technical support and documentation for end users and IT staff.

• Develop disaster recovery and backup strategies for UC systems.

• Stay updated with Cisco technologies and best practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or related field.

• 3–5+ years of experience in Unified Communications or VoIP engineering.

• Strong experience with Cisco UC products: CUCM, Unity, UCCX, Jabber, Webex, Expressway.

• Knowledge of SIP, MGCP, H.323, QoS, and voice gateways (ISR, CUBE).

• Experience with call routing, dial plans, and voice messaging.

• Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP Collaboration, CCIE Collaboration) highly preferred.

• Familiarity with networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP).

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
