Job Role: ELV Technician (Extra Low Voltage Technician)

An ELV Technician specializes in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems, typically below 1000V. These systems include fire alarms, CCTV, access control, public address systems, security systems, and building automation systems. The ELV Technician ensures the seamless operation of these systems in both commercial and residential buildings, maintaining safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Installation: Install and configure extra low voltage systems such as fire alarm systems, CCTV cameras, security systems, access control systems, intercoms, public address (PA) systems, and network cabling.

• Maintenance: Conduct regular maintenance of ELV systems, ensuring they are fully functional. Perform inspections, tests, and troubleshooting to prevent issues and improve performance.

• Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnose faults in ELV systems, such as malfunctioning cameras, sensors, or control panels, and repair or replace faulty components.

• System Integration: Integrate ELV systems with building management systems (BMS), ensuring seamless communication between different low-voltage systems.

• Wiring & Cabling: Install and maintain wiring and cabling for systems, ensuring compliance with local regulations, standards, and safety requirements.

• Testing & Calibration: Perform testing and calibration of ELV equipment and components, ensuring they operate at optimal levels and meet safety standards.

• Documentation: Keep accurate records of system installations, configurations, maintenance schedules, repairs, and any modifications made to the systems.

• Customer Service: Provide technical support to clients, explaining the features and functions of their ELV systems. Offer guidance on proper usage and troubleshooting minor issues.

• Upgrades & Enhancements: Suggest and implement upgrades or enhancements to existing ELV systems to improve functionality, performance, or security.

• Compliance & Safety: Ensure all installations and repairs are performed in accordance with local and international standards (e.g., NEC, IEC) and comply with safety regulations.

Requirements:

• Experience: At least 2–5 years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of ELV systems.

• Technical Skills: Proficient in the installation, wiring, and troubleshooting of low-voltage systems including fire alarms, CCTV, intercoms, access control, and public address systems.

• Certifications: Industry certifications in ELV systems (e.g., CCTV, access control, fire alarms, etc.) are preferred. Knowledge of standards such as BS 5839 for fire alarm systems is beneficial.

• Education: A diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field. Alternatively, completion of an ELV or low-voltage systems training program.

• Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical wiring, building management systems, and system integration.

• Problem Solving: Excellent troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system faults quickly.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and handle physically demanding tasks.

• Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues and provide customer support in a clear, professional manner.

• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license may be required for travel to various sites for installation and maintenance work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Certifications: Certifications in specific ELV systems like CCTV installation, fire alarm systems, or access control systems.

• Industry Experience: Experience working in sectors such as construction, facilities management, or security services.

• Familiarity with BMS Integration: Understanding of integrating ELV systems with building management systems (BMS) for monitoring and control.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Work typically takes place in commercial buildings, residential complexes, industrial sites, and new construction projects.

• Hours: Full-time with possible shift work, weekends, and emergency call-outs depending on the urgency of maintenance or installation requirements.

• Environment: Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, with exposure to a variety of weather conditions, confined spaces, and sometimes noisy or hazardous environments.

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Transportation: Provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.

• Medical facilities: Provided as per company policy.

• Air passage: One-way free ticket after completing the contract.

• Probation period: 3 months (as per KSA law).

• Other conditions: All other terms as per KSA government law.
