Fiber Optics Deployment Workers are responsible for the physical deployment of fiber optic cables in infrastructure projects. They support high-speed internet, telecommunications, and data services by ensuring proper installation, splicing, and testing of fiber optic networks. This role is critical for expanding modern communication systems and requires both technical and physical capabilities.
Assist in the installation, splicing, termination, and testing of fiber optic cables in outdoor and indoor environments.
Lay underground or aerial fiber optic cables according to deployment plans.
Set up and maintain fiber optic infrastructure in residential, commercial, and industrial areas.
Operate tools and machinery such as cable pullers, trenchers, and fusion splicing machines.
Perform fiber optic splicing using fusion splicing and mechanical splicing techniques.
Conduct OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) and power meter tests to verify cable performance.
Ensure cable routes are properly marked and documented.
Follow safety protocols and wear protective gear while working in construction zones or at heights.
Report progress and issues to supervisors or network engineers.
Previous experience in fiber optics installation or telecommunications field is preferred.
Basic knowledge of fiber optic cables, splicing, and testing procedures.
Ability to read and follow technical diagrams, layouts, and deployment maps.
Physically fit and able to work in different environments, including underground, rooftops, or poles.
Comfortable working with tools and machinery related to cable deployment.
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends or night shifts if needed.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in fiber optics is a plus.
