Job Role: HVAC Technician (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Technician)

An HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting HVAC systems in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. This role ensures that heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems are running efficiently and reliably, maintaining comfortable and safe indoor environments.

Responsibilities:

• Installation: Install new HVAC systems, including air conditioners, furnaces, boilers, ductwork, thermostats, and ventilation systems, ensuring proper functionality and safety.

• Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance checks on HVAC systems, such as cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, inspecting ductwork, and ensuring energy-efficient performance.

• Repair and Troubleshooting: Diagnose problems with HVAC systems such as poor airflow, temperature irregularities, refrigerant leaks, and electrical issues. Perform repairs or replace faulty components.

• System Testing: Conduct thorough testing of HVAC systems, ensuring they are operating at maximum efficiency and meet environmental and safety standards.

• Refrigerant Handling: Safely handle refrigerants and ensure proper levels are maintained. Perform leak checks and ensure compliance with environmental regulations (e.g., EPA Section 608 certification).

• Customer Service: Communicate with customers to explain the status of their HVAC systems, recommend necessary repairs or upgrades, and provide advice on system care and energy-saving practices.

• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of services provided, including repairs, installations, system diagnostics, and parts used.

• Energy Efficiency: Provide guidance to clients on how to optimize HVAC system efficiency, reducing energy consumption and promoting sustainability.

• Emergency Services: Provide emergency repair services for HVAC systems, particularly during extreme weather conditions.

Requirements:

• Experience: Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, or repair. Experience with residential, commercial, or industrial HVAC systems is preferred.

• Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems, heating and cooling principles, refrigeration cycles, and ventilation systems.

• Certifications:

  • EPA Section 608 Certification for refrigerant handling.

  • Additional certifications such as NATE (North American Technician Excellence) are a plus.

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an HVAC training program or apprenticeship is preferred.

• Tools Proficiency: Ability to use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, leak detectors, vacuum pumps, and refrigerant gauges.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in tight or high spaces, and handle manual tasks.

• Problem Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues quickly and accurately.

• Communication Skills: Ability to clearly explain technical issues to customers and provide excellent customer service.

• Driver’s License: A valid driver’s license is often required if traveling to various job sites.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Certifications: Additional certifications in advanced HVAC systems, such as geothermal systems or commercial HVAC systems.

• Energy Efficiency Knowledge: Experience with energy-efficient systems, including smart thermostats and renewable energy systems (e.g., solar heating).

• Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BMS): Knowledge of integrating HVAC systems with building management systems for monitoring and control.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Work can take place in residential homes, commercial buildings, industrial plants, or other facilities.

• Hours: Full-time, with potential evening, weekend, and on-call work for emergency services.

• Environment: Work in a variety of indoor and outdoor environments, including potentially hazardous or confined spaces (e.g., attics, basements, rooftops).

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Transportation: Provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.

• Air passage: One-way free ticket after completing the contract.

• Probation period: 3 months (as per KSA law).
