A SharePoint Technologies Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining SharePoint solutions that improve collaboration, content management, and business processes. They develop intranet portals, workflows, and custom applications to meet organizational requirements.
For All Levels (Juniors → Seniors)
Design, configure, and maintain SharePoint sites, libraries, lists, and workflows.
Develop custom solutions using SharePoint Designer, Power Automate, Power Apps, and SPFx (SharePoint Framework).
Troubleshoot and resolve SharePoint-related issues.
Collaborate with business users to understand requirements and implement solutions.
Ensure SharePoint security, permissions, and compliance policies are maintained.
Additional Responsibilities by Level:
Junior Level:
Assist in site creation, list configuration, and workflow setup.
Support migration of content to SharePoint Online/On-Premises.
Learn SharePoint best practices under guidance.
Mid-Level:
Design and implement automated workflows and custom applications.
Integrate SharePoint with other Microsoft 365 services (Teams, OneDrive, Power BI).
Provide technical support and training to end-users.
Senior Level:
Architect enterprise-level SharePoint solutions and governance strategies.
Lead SharePoint migrations and upgrades (On-Premises → Online/Hybrid).
Mentor junior engineers and guide SharePoint development standards.
Collaborate with IT leadership to align SharePoint strategy with organizational goals.
For All Levels (Core Skills):
Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
Strong understanding of SharePoint Online and/or On-Premises environments.
Experience with Power Platform tools: Power Automate, Power Apps, Power BI.
Knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams, OneDrive, and Exchange.
Problem-solving mindset and ability to work with multiple stakeholders.
Experience by Level:
Junior Level: 0–2 years of experience in SharePoint administration or support.
Mid-Level: 2–5 years of experience developing and managing SharePoint solutions.
Senior Level: 5+ years in SharePoint design, development, or administration with leadership experience.
Preferred (Especially for Senior):
Experience with SPFx, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and C# for custom development.
Familiarity with SharePoint migration tools (e.g., ShareGate, Metalogix).
Knowledge of governance, compliance, and security best practices for enterprise SharePoint.
