Job Role: Master Cutter (Tailor)

A Master Cutter is a highly skilled professional in the garment industry responsible for accurately measuring, drafting, and cutting fabric according to specific designs and sizes. They often lead tailoring or production teams and ensure precision and quality in the cutting process.

Responsibilities:

• Take precise body measurements of clients or use provided sizing charts.

• Draft and cut fabric patterns based on design specifications.

• Supervise and guide junior cutters and tailors.

• Inspect fabric for defects and ensure efficient fabric usage (minimizing waste).

• Alter existing garments based on customer requirements or fit corrections.

• Coordinate with designers and sewing staff to ensure design accuracy.

• Maintain tools (scissors, cutting machines, measuring instruments) in good condition.

• Ensure production timelines and quality standards are met.

• Stay updated with current fashion and cutting techniques.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a cutter or tailor, with strong cutting skills.

• Advanced knowledge of garment construction, fabric types, and cutting methods.

• Ability to read and interpret patterns, sketches, and technical specifications.

• Excellent measurement-taking and fitting skills.

• Strong attention to detail and precision.

• Leadership skills to manage a cutting team (for senior/master roles).

• Physical stamina and manual dexterity.

• Formal training or certification in tailoring, garment technology, or fashion design (preferred but not always required).
