Job Role

A Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing interior and exterior surfaces of buildings, walls, and structures. They ensure that all paintwork is completed with precision, durability, and an excellent finish, in accordance with project specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, sanding, and filling cracks or holes before painting.

• Mix paints, varnishes, and other coatings to match desired colors and textures.

• Apply paint using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment to achieve uniform coverage.

• Perform finishing work such as polishing, touch-ups, and protective coatings.

• Ensure tools and materials are properly maintained and stored.

• Read and follow job specifications, color schemes, and instructions from supervisors.

• Work safely at heights, using scaffolding or ladders as required.

• Maintain cleanliness and order in the work area.

Qualifications

• Minimum O/L or equivalent education.

• Vocational or NVQ Certificate in Painting or Building Finishing is an advantage.

• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in commercial, residential, or industrial painting.

• Knowledge of surface preparation and painting materials.

Skills & Competencies

• Skilled in manual and spray painting techniques.

• Good color sense, attention to detail, and steady hand coordination.

• Familiarity with safety procedures, especially when handling chemicals and paints.

• Physical stamina for standing, climbing, and working long hours.

• Teamwork and communication skills.

• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain a high-quality finish.
