Job Role: Technician – Generator

A Generator Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing generator systems, ensuring that these backup power solutions are functioning correctly and efficiently. The role involves troubleshooting, performing preventive maintenance, and responding to emergency situations where power loss occurs. They play a crucial role in maintaining reliable electricity supply in various settings, such as commercial buildings, factories, or remote locations.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair diesel, gas, and other types of generators.

• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal generator performance.

• Troubleshoot generator faults and perform corrective actions to resolve issues promptly.

• Perform routine testing of generators to ensure they start up correctly and operate within specifications.

• Assist in the setup and commissioning of new generators and power systems.

• Ensure that generators are operating in compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.

• Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities.

• Replace parts such as fuel filters, air filters, batteries, alternators, and engine components when needed.

• Respond to generator failures or power outages, performing emergency repairs and getting the equipment back online as quickly as possible.

• Collaborate with the operations or facilities team to ensure efficient and uninterrupted power supply.

• Provide technical support and guidance to other team members or clients when needed.

• Report and escalate any major faults or concerns to senior engineers or supervisors.

• Ensure that all safety protocols are followed during maintenance and repair work.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Generator Technician or in a similar role (typically 2-5 years).

• Strong knowledge of generator systems, including diesel, gas, and hybrid generators.

• Experience in troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining generator components such as engines, alternators, and electrical systems.

• Understanding of electrical and mechanical principles related to generator operation.

• Familiarity with fuel systems, cooling systems, and control panels for generators.

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.

• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in emergency situations.

• Good understanding of safety standards, regulations, and environmental policies related to generator operation.

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.

• Basic computer skills to log maintenance records and track inventory.

• High school diploma or equivalent; a technical certification or degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in generator maintenance or related fields (e.g., Cummins, Caterpillar).

• Knowledge of generator load testing and diagnostics.

• Previous experience working with backup power systems in critical environments (e.g., hospitals, data centers).

• Experience with automated generator control systems and monitoring software.

• Ability to work with both small and large-scale generators and power systems.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Typically on-site at commercial, industrial, or remote locations where generators are installed (e.g., factories, construction sites, hospitals).

• Hours: Standard working hours with potential for overtime, especially during emergencies or scheduled maintenance.

• Travel: Travel to different locations may be required to service or install generators.

• Environment: Work may involve exposure to harsh environmental conditions, such as extreme weather, and potentially noisy or hazardous environments. Safety protocols must always be followed.

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Transportation: Provided by the company.

• Accommodation: Provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.

• Medical facilities: Provided as per company policy.

• Air passage: One-way free ticket after completing the contract.

• Probation period: 3 months (as per KSA law).

• Other conditions: All other terms as per KSA government law.
