Job Role: Technician – HVAC

An HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. The role ensures that HVAC systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with local regulations. HVAC Technicians work in residential, commercial, and industrial settings, ensuring optimal indoor comfort for clients.

Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair HVAC systems, including heating units, air conditioning systems, ventilation equipment, and refrigeration units.

• Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure HVAC systems are operating efficiently and to avoid breakdowns.

• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in HVAC systems, such as low refrigerant, clogged air filters, electrical faults, or malfunctioning components.

• Repair or replace damaged or faulty components, including motors, compressors, thermostats, pumps, and ductwork.

• Clean and replace air filters, fans, coils, and other parts to ensure systems run smoothly.

• Test HVAC systems to ensure they meet required performance and safety standards.

• Perform routine system balancing, ensuring proper airflow and temperature control across different areas.

• Interpret technical drawings, system diagrams, and HVAC blueprints to ensure correct installation or repairs.

• Adhere to all safety protocols and industry regulations, including environmental and refrigerant handling laws.

• Maintain accurate records of services performed, including inspections, repairs, and part replacements.

• Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors during installations, upgrades, and system evaluations.

• Respond to emergency calls for system failures and provide timely repair solutions.

• Advise customers on energy-efficient HVAC solutions and recommend upgrades or system enhancements.

• Assist in the design and planning of HVAC systems for new construction or renovation projects.

• Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as an HVAC Technician or in a similar HVAC-related role (typically 2–5 years).

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment.

• Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure gauges, and temperature sensors.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and HVAC system manuals.

• Understanding of refrigerant handling, environmental regulations, and energy-efficient HVAC systems.

• Good troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues quickly and accurately.

• Physical stamina to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and perform manual tasks.

• Strong customer service and communication skills.

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in HVAC systems is preferred.

• Valid HVAC technician certification, such as EPA Section 608, is required (in regions where this is mandated).

• Valid driver’s license (if fieldwork is required).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in HVAC design or installation from recognized industry organizations (e.g., NATE, ASHRAE).

• Experience working with advanced control systems or building management systems (BMS).

• Familiarity with troubleshooting and servicing refrigeration systems.

• Knowledge of green building standards and eco-friendly HVAC solutions.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Residential homes, commercial buildings, office complexes, industrial sites, or construction projects.

• Hours: Full-time; may require evening, weekend, or emergency work, especially for repairs.

• Environment: HVAC Technicians may work in various settings, including indoor and outdoor environments. Work can involve lifting heavy equipment, working in tight spaces, and exposure to hot or cold temperatures.

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.

• Air passage: One-way free ticket after completing the contract.
