Job Role: Technician – Mechanical Automatic Door

A Mechanical Automatic Door Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of automatic door systems, including sliding, swinging, revolving, and industrial doors. The role ensures that these systems operate safely, reliably, and in accordance with manufacturer and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

• Install various types of automatic door systems (e.g., sliding, swinging, revolving, sensor-activated).

• Conduct routine maintenance and inspections on automatic doors to ensure proper functioning and safety.

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and sensor-related issues in automatic door systems.

• Adjust and calibrate door systems, including opening/closing speeds, sensors, and control units.

• Replace worn or damaged components such as motors, tracks, rollers, gears, and sensors.

• Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and installation guides.

• Respond to service calls for door malfunctions or breakdowns and provide timely repair solutions.

• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and building codes.

• Document service activities, including repair logs, parts used, and customer interactions.

• Provide customer support and training on the operation and safety features of automatic doors.

• Coordinate with other technicians, contractors, or building managers as needed.

• Maintain tools, equipment, and a safe working environment at all job sites.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in installing and servicing mechanical or automatic door systems (typically 2–5 years).

• Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with door mechanisms, motors, and access control systems.

• Understanding of sensors, control panels, and low-voltage wiring.

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.

• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with safety standards related to automatic doors (e.g., ANSI/BHMA A156.10).

• Physical fitness and ability to lift heavy components and work at heights or in confined spaces.

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

• Valid driver’s license (often required for fieldwork).

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or vocational training in mechanics, electronics, or automation is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Manufacturer-specific training or certification (e.g., Dorma, GEZE, Stanley, Besam, FAAC).

• Knowledge of access control integration and building automation systems.

• Experience with emergency egress and fire-rated door systems.

Working Conditions:

• Location: Commercial buildings, hospitals, shopping malls, airports, industrial facilities.

• Hours: Full-time; may include on-call duties, weekend work, or emergency response.

• Environment: Mostly field-based, involving both indoor and outdoor work; may include working at heights or in tight spaces.

Conditions:

• Contract period: 2 years

• Food: SR 300 food allowance or provided by the company.

• Working hours: 8 hours a day, 48 hours per week.

• Overtime: As per KSA government law.

• Vacation: 21 days per year.
