An MEP Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. They ensure that these systems function properly, comply with safety regulations, and operate efficiently.
Install, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including HVAC, lighting, power distribution, fire protection, water supply, and waste systems.
Perform inspections on MEP systems and identify issues such as leaks, electrical faults, or malfunctioning equipment.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to minimize downtime.
Assist with the installation and testing of new MEP systems in construction projects.
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA).
Perform routine maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to ensure optimal performance.
Coordinate with supervisors, engineers, and other technicians to complete projects on time and to specification.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
Provide technical support to other departments or clients when necessary.
Ensure that all tools, equipment, and materials are used safely and efficiently.
Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation for system performance and maintenance.
Proven experience as an MEP Technician or in a similar role (typically 2-5 years).
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints.
